CynthiaCynthia Robinson lives in San Francisco, where she works as a part-time advertising shill, and a full-time raconteur.

Her debut novel, The Dog Park Club, is a comic noir thriller set in Berkeley, California. Cynthia is currently writing its sequel, Barbary. Both books are being published by Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin's Press, and are scheduled for release in 2009 and 2010.

Cynthia's stories have been published in Switchback (swback.com) and Opium (opiummagazine.com). She was nominated for the Best New American Voices award 2007 and Best of the Web, Humor 2008.

Cynthia has an MFA in creative writing from University of San Francisco, where she also taught fiction writing. She has an M.A. in history as well.

Cynthia lives with her husband, Mark Riepling, a translator of French, Spanish, and Catalan. Their son is an aspiring writer — which means he's worked as a cook, video game clerk, butcher, and hairdresser. Cynthia often gets the feeling she is being shadowed by a small, Peter Lorre-ish figure. This, nearly always, turns out to be her pug, Suzie.
